Anthony Schulz is Featured Performer at Qathet Accordion Fest

Anthony Schulz will be a featured performer/presenter at the 4th Annual Qathet Accordion Fest May 2-3, 2025 in Powell River, BC. On May 3rd, he will present a workshop on “Improvisation and How To Practice It” at 3:PM when he will offer practical tools and creative strategies to build confidence and skills in musical improvisation.

Anthony Schulz is a music educator and accordionist who has dedicated his career to showcasing the versatility and artistry of the piano accordion.

Since the early 1990s, Anthony has taught tertiary music with a focus on contemporary theory, aural training, and performance. He currently holds an ongoing position in the Bachelor of Music program at Melbourne Polytechnic in Melbourne, Australia.

As a performer, Anthony has recorded and performed both locally and internationally with acclaimed ensembles, including the ARIA-winning Zulya and the Children of the Underground, Ball Hanlon Schulz, Frock, Rachel Scott’s Bach Project, and the French musette and chanson quartet Langue de Chat. His music spans genres such as chamber music, world music, improvisation, and folk, often challenging perceptions and expanding the artistic boundaries of the accordion.

Anthony serves as President of the Accordion Society of Australia, where he fosters community engagement through events, orchestras, workshops, and festivals, elevating the instrument’s profile.

On the international stage, Anthony has served as a juror for the Australian Accordion Teachers Association championships and has presented at the Accordion Teachers Guild conference in Chicago. He holds a Bachelor of Music from the Victorian College of the Arts, a Master of Music, and a Graduate Diploma of Education from Melbourne University.
