Cory Pesaturo continues to bring the accordion to the world in various venues and in instrumental groups of all types. In July, Cory performed with Jason Mraz.
Cory shared, “In a time when we have not one, but two major commercials attacking the accordion (Geico and Meineke), all on the backs of the “Weird Al” movie very unfortunately not giving a bump to accordion sales or popularity when you couldn’t have created a better situation to do so.”
Cory Pesaturo is doing everything he can to put the accordion on stages with famous artists and change the never ending battle for the instruments validity. Earlier in July, Cory gave a tour of Providence, Rhode Island to Jason Mraz’s band who was playing that night in Rhode Island’s biggest theater.
Some of of Mraz’s band have become friends and fans of Cory’s from the LA music scene and others from the Israeli music scene. After the show, Cory ran back stage to play for the rest of the band and Jason himself who Instantly became a fan and said “You need to play with us next week in
Boston.”The next Saturday night, Mraz not only had Cory perform on three of his hit songs including “Lucky”, but as you’ll see in the video, gave Cory a chance to play his own solo in front of 10,000 fans. It was an extremely rare chance for an accordionist to get a solo with a superstar artist, and Cory let him know after the show, just what the moment meant not for him, but for the Accordion World at large. “Many Stars I have met and played for and played with privately say that they have me on their show, but either their management or band stop it from actually happening. You actually came through with it.” Jason soon posted a picture of Cory on his Instagram Walland personally thanked him.
