There will be premieres of compositions by all members of the band, plus guest composer, David Mahler. Included will be the premiere of Guy’s piece, “Pauline, Pauline,” in memory of his friend, Pauline Oliveros; Will Holshouser’s piece, “Dragonflies,” based on a poem by his father, Nathan Koci’s “Shan’t He, Shantey?,” Kamala Sankaram’s “60 Words,” and David Mahler’s “Shall we hear that singing…” based on a poem by William Stafford.
Guy Klucevsek began playing accordion in 1952 after seeing Dick Contino on television. Since that time, he has performed and/or recorded with Laurie Anderson, Bang on a Can, Alan Bern, Brave Combo, Anthony Braxton, Jason Robert Brown, Charles Busch, Dave Douglas, Bill Frisell’s Music, Phillip Johnston, Kepa Junkera, Kronos Quartet, and John Zorn, and was a guest on the children’s television show Mr Rogers Neighborhood. Klucevsek has released 23 recordings as leader/co-leader, his most recent being “Teetering on the Verge of Normalcy”, on the Starkland label.
