China map with Tacheng noted

Its about 6 hours flying time from Beijing or Shanghai across China to the picturesque city of Tacheng. Compare that with 5:30 hours flying time from NY to LA, to realise the distance.

Tacheng has farming economy and is only 6.2 miles from the border with Kazakhstan. Tacheng region is where Marco Polo travelled the Silk Road some 12 centuries ago. The accordion is almost a symbol of the city where accordion is so popular, that out of every 10 people there will be two or three who can play the accordion!

Imagine hundreds of school buses to bring nearly 5,000 plus school children accordionists, 5,000 plastic stools, 5,000 red t-shirts, 5,000 numbers on the ground and a number sticker on each accordion, drones flying around filming – an amazing musical mass of accordionists (certified 5,282 accordionists) that was great fun to be a part of.
