The Mobile Accordion ClassRoom (MACr)
December 1st 2023
Laura Niland, President of the San Antonio Accordion Association
The non-profit Innovative Accordion Music Productions ( IAMP) launched a new accordion project in late 2023. The purpose of the project is to increase the number of accordionists of all ages via direct instruction on 12 bass or 48 bass piano accordion.
The project is called The Mobile Accordion ClassRoom (MACr), as it will travel to different schools, educational venues, workshops and more to bring a classroom directly to the public with on-site, hands-on music instruction for beginners of all ages. Currently IAMP is in Phase I, which is instrument acquisition through donations made to IAMP.
We currently have several instruments but need more to complete the MACr. Your tax-deductible donation can be made for our project on our website at www.InnovativeAccordion.org or you can contact Laura Niland, Secretary of IAMP for more information at LauraJNiland@outlook.com Additional donations are needed for materials & travel to support the project.

If you are interested in making a donation in honor of an accordionist, teacher, or club please contact us directly. We are also creating a webpage for MACr honorees and a MACr History Guide with a bio of each honoree which travels with the MACr passing on the legacy of those who have dedicated their lives to the advancement of the accordion.
We are working into Phase II which is curriculum writing and site locations and projected to be in Phase III, on the road teaching , by late 2024. Our goal is to assist accordion students to make connections with the past through the legacy of culturally diverse music heritages. Lessons are inspired by Texan cultures and but not limited in genre or generation. We are particularly interested in offering programs to schools, where keyboard instruction is universal. TEKS and Lesson Guides will be included as well.
