


The 31st annual American Accordion Musicological Society will honor Prof. Joan Sommers March 6 & 7, 2020 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The AAMS festival includes Workshops, Gala Concert, Award Banquet, and two Festival Orchestras.
Festival Orchestra 1 is under the direction of Dee Langley and open to all levels. They will be performing music from Slovakia, Poland, Costa Rica, Russia and America as well as music of the Rroma (Gypsy) people. Festival Orchestra 2, under the baton of Joan Sommers offers music of a more challenging nature. The orchestra will present “Seagate Overture”, “Il Postino”, and a medley from “Thoroughly Modern Mille”. Prof. Sommers will also conduct combined Orchestra 1 & 2 in a medley from “Beauty and the Beast”.
Workshops will be presented by Joe Natoli, Al Terzo and Joan Sommer. Dr. Lou Persic will provide music during the Award Banquet. The Gala Concert performers include five American Accordion Hall of Fame inductees in concert – Joan Sommers, Al Terzo, Joe Natoli, Dee Langley and Joanna Darrow.
