Accordionist Jane Christison will perform in “Missa Latina”. Village Presbyterian recently announced its 2018 Music Ministry Concert Season, beginning on Nov. 4, 2018 at 3:PM which program conductor Will Breytspraak is calling “The Peacemakers.”
The free concert will benefit Frontera de Cristo. He said “The second half of the concert includes “Missa Latina”, a very new work. It’s a joyful setting of the Latin Mass with an incredible orchestral force of accordion, piano, violin, three percussionists, soloists and beautiful choir parts. It’s like tango meets the Mass.”
The concert takes place at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS 66208. Jane shares, “The piece I’m playing on is “Missa Latina,” by Bobbi Fischer. Accompanying the 55-voice choir are piano, string bass, violin, two percussionists playing every imaginable Latin percussion instrument and me on accordion. It’s really fun to have new music to work on – and it requires me to use my free bass system, which is definitely good for my chops!”
