Composer David Bohn is embarking on a new musical project through Kickstarter, to create a new composition for renowned accordionist, teacher, and conductor, Stas Venglevski. David wants to compose a piece for Stas for a performance in either 2012 or 2013. It will be of 15 to 20 minutes duration for solo accordionist without any other performers. The composition may include the use of Stas’ voice, if a text considered suitable by both David and Stas can be found. The composition will be a single continuous movement, divided into sections of contrasting character, much as Ravel’s “Concerto in D “(for the left hand).

The title for the composition is “Fantasy”, with an appropriate subtitle to be chosen in the course of composition. The piece will be dedicated to Stas. The project will only be funded if at least $400 is pledged by August 24, 2012.

Kickstarter is the world’s largest funding platform for creative projects. Every project is independently crafted, put to all-or-nothing funding, and supported by friends, fans, and the public in return for rewards. Every project creator sets their project’s funding goal and deadline. If the project succeeds in reaching its funding goal all backers’ credit cards are charged when time expires. If the project falls short no one is charged.

Since its launch in April 2009, more than 24,000 creative projects have been successfully funded by people from around the world. People come to Kickstarter to build community around their projects. It’s inspiring to be supported by people you know, and amazing to connect with strangers who are discovering your ideas for the first time.
