Joe Morelli, who was the first Canadian accordionist to play with a symphony orchestra passed away on March 4, 2009.
Joe was a wonderful, warm person and an outstanding arranger, composer and player.
Joe Morelli (b. 1929) wrote an important book, in which shared his many decades of performing and teaching accordion.
“Target: Focus” not only deals with practical matters of accordion playing, such as wrist and hand position, balance of the instrument, leg position, backstraps, etc. but also less-measurable factors involved in playing an instrument such as consciousness, self-consciousness and un-consciousness.
Joe Morelli was well versed in French and Italian music in addition to many other romantic European melodies.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and colleagues.
