Excerpts from his website: Alex’s passion for music was ignited early, growing up in a family of professional musicians. Under the guidance of his father, the third generation of their Austrian family band, Alex was steeped in the music business from the start. At age 3, he began formal piano lessons, and by 6, he was already performing on stage with the accordion, setting the stage for his lifelong musical journey.

Alex’s ability to master multiple instruments quickly became evident. By age 11, he was gigging with Polish polka legend Joe Oberaitis and Canada’s Polka King, Walter Ostanek, while touring nationally with his father’s band. His talent for jazz and classical trumpet opened doors to prestigious opportunities, including playing with the London Symphony Orchestra during high school. Alex chose Ithaca College for its renowned music program, continuing to develop his skills while maintaining a national touring schedule.

Throughout his career, Alex has made significant contributions to the music world. At 18, he performed on Walter Ostanek’s Grammy-winning album “Music and Friends,” sparking renewed interest in polka among younger musicians. As a leader in the polka music renaissance, Alex performs styles from Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Mexico, Poland, and America, infusing them with a modern twist that appeals to a broad audience. In 2022, his dedication was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement induction into the International Polka Association Hall of Fame.

Alex’s professionalism and quality performance have attracted numerous opportunities. In 2016, he collaborated with BBDO on Hormel Pepperoni commercials, contributing to a successful campaign. Later, he recorded with Jack Black for “The Polka King,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2017. Alex’s work has also been featured in commercials for Ford Trucks and on the soundtracks for “Moonshiners” on the Discovery Network. Leading the Alex Meixner Band, Alex performs around 180 shows annually, captivating audiences at intimate venues and major festivals alike. The band is a regular headliner at events like Wurstfest in Texas, German Fest in Milwaukee, and Musikfest in Pennsylvania. As a soloist, Alex showcases his talent in jazz, classical, and polka genres, performing with university ensembles and at festivals worldwide.

With over 75 albums to his name, including 20 as a leader or soloist, Alex’s recording career is prolific. His Grammy-nominated album “Polka Freak Out,” a collaboration with Bubba Hernandez, highlights his innovative approach. Alex has recorded with a diverse array of artists, from avant-garde accordionist Guy Klucevsek to Texas troubadour Walt Wilkins and Canadian Folk Punkers The Dreadnoughts.

In 2015, Alex launched AM Management, a talent agency specializing in entertainment for Oktoberfests, themed events, weddings, and corporate gatherings. He also provides master classes, guest lectures, and clinics for schools and colleges, sharing his expertise with the next generation of musicians. His online lessons via Patreon cover a range of topics, including accordion, trumpet, music arranging, and career guidance. Alex’s impact extends beyond music. The Faust Brewery in New Braunfels, Texas, launched the Alex Meixner Polka Pilsner, celebrating his influence in the polka music industry. His line of band apparel and extensive album collection further engage fans, enhancing the inclusive atmosphere at his events.

Alex Meixner’s career is a testament to his unwavering dedication to spreading joy through music.
