Amy Jo Sawyer Performs For Silicon Valley Accordion Society

Amy Jo Sawyer, resident of O’Fallon, IL., performed in concert for the Silicon Valley Accordion Society on September 6, at Harry’s Hofbrau banquet hall in San Jose, CA.

Program chair, Norma Parsons, introduced the virtuoso accordionist to the enthusiastic crowd of about 150 members and their guests. Amy Jo performed Classical, Jazz, and Original music for the event.

Amy Jo is the accordionist with the St. Louis Symphony, past President of the Accordionists and Teachers Guild, International, and has performed in many countries of the world. She has degrees in Composition, Performance and a Master’s Degree in Jazz Performance. She has toured internationally with the University of Missouri, Kansas City (UMKC) Accordion Orchestra under the direction of Joan Sommers. Two of her original compositions for accordion orchestra: “Opus Five Six Four” and “Carnival” are on the UMKC CD Collection. Her own CD, “Accordion To Amy”, is available on her web site: www.amyjosawyer.com . It includes Jazz original and standards all arranged by Amy Jo for solo accordion and accompanying instruments.
