Tejano Music Awards nominee, Conjunto accordionist Brenda Martinez, will perform on the popular RFD TV polka party variety show on May 4, 2021. The Mollie B Variety Show is a weekly show hosted by international polka stars Mollie B and Ted Lange, and is broadcast live on their YouTube and Facebook channels from their studio in northwestern Ohio.
Mollie and Ted are best known for their Mollie B’s Polka Party program that airs on RFD TV, which, according to their Facebook page, “airs 2 times per week and broadcasts into over 60 million households via DISH Network, DIRECTV and over 600 independent cable systems.” They also host Sunday radio shows on SiriusXM, Channel 147 at 11AM ET and KNEIRadio.com at 8:PM ET.

Vocalist, song writer, and accordionist, Brenda Martinez, whose debut album Favoritas de Mis Padres, earned her a 2020 Tejano Music Awards nomination in the Best New Artist – Female category, will bring her catalog of Conjunto polkas up to the studio to perform live on-air with Mollie and Ted. Released in December 2019 on CD, digital outlets and vinyl LP, Favoritas de Mis Padres is a 100% instrumental album and features polkas, a huapango, a reimagined bolero, and “La Galleta (Cookie Polka),” an original polka composed by Martinez. Produced and released on the Rancho Alegre Records label, it was a unique endeavor for a new artist, focusing exclusively on her considerable squeezebox skills. She is a voting member of the Recording Academy and will begin recording her follow-up album later this year.
Brenda began learning to play the accordion as a teen with help from her dad, who was also a musician. She continued for several years, playing with some of the best in San Antonio, but then took a long break. In 2017, wondering if she could still play, she picked the instrument up after over a decade of not playing, and to her delight, it all came flooding back to her.Ever since, she has been determined to get better and better and has shared the stage with legends like Gilberto Perez and the one and only Flaco Jimenez.
Brenda is voting member of the Recording Academy (Grammys), a songwriter registered with BMI and recorded her very first record, Favoritas de Mis Padres, in summer 2019, and it is available on Rancho Alegre Records.
