“Old Manayunk” for accordion and electorics, composed, arranged and produced by Dr. William Schimmel, a new video piece can be seen and heard on YouTube and will be available at the AAA Master Class and Concert Series ( The Seminars -July 28, 29 and 30, 2017) in a limited cassette edition.

Manayunk, a section of Philadelphia, has a long history of factory and industrial life, drawing many ethnic groups as far back as the 19th Century. It suffered a decline in the 1960’s and came back in the 1980’s with the help of the architectural firm, Venturi, Scott Brown and Associates.

The Term Steampunk is a Retro Term – looking back into the future wearing special goggles – it’s past present: Victorian meets Today. Old Manayunk is mixed where one hears the industrial sounds and songs of the past in a new symphonic one movement work, hence the term – “A Steampunk Reality”.

It can be viewed here – and on YouTube, “Old Manayunk A Steampunk Reality” by William Schimmel.
