International accordionist Hanzhi Wang has a busy schedule of performances in the United States during October and November 2026, with appearances in Ohio, Alabama and California highlighting the accordion as both as a soloist, with other instruments and symphony orchestra.
On October 10 at 7.30pm, Hanzhi Wang will appear with the Canton Symphony Orchestra at Umstattd Hall, Zimmermann Symphony Center, Canton, Ohio. Guest conductor Maurice Cohn will lead Bandoneón & Beethoven, a program connecting the music of Buenos Aires with the classical symphonic tradition.
Hanzhi Wang will perform Astor Piazzolla’s celebrated Aconcagua, Concerto for Bandoneón, playing the solo part on accordion. The program also includes Piazzolla’s Tangazo, Florence Price’s Andante Moderato and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1.
Hanzhi then travels to Birmingham, Alabama, where she joins acclaimed flautist Anthony Trionfo at the Alys Stephens Center’s Jemison Concert Hall on November 10 at 10am. Presented during the Center’s 30th anniversary season, the concert operates on a “Pay What You Choose” basis. Wang and Trionfo have previously collaborated in recital, combining accordion and flute in an unusual chamber-music partnership.
California audiences will have two opportunities to hear Hanzhi Wang with the North State Symphony in Carmen Reimagined. The first is at the Cascade Theatre, Redding, on November 14 at 7.30pm, followed by a second performance in Chico on November 15 at 2pm. Conducted by Scott Seaton, the program features Piazzolla’s Libertango and Aconcagua, with Hanzhi Wang as accordion soloist, followed by Rodion Shchedrin’s colourful Carmen Suite.
Wang is a First Prize winner of the Young Concert Artists Susan Wadsworth International Auditions and the Castelfidardo International Accordion Competition. Her continuing concert appearances demonstrate the versatility and expressive possibilities of the concert accordion.
