Co-founders of Not Just Oompah! (NJO), Shirley Johnson and Laura Niland announce the completion of another successful NJO event with Bruce Sunpie Barnes from New Orleans. The workshop was attended by 37 participants from 13 USA states, and 2 participants from Australia. This is the first time NJO goes international! States represented include: AK, AZ, CA, MA, MN, MS, MO, NH, OR, TN, TX, VT, WA.

We want to thank all of those who attended and also thank our presenter, Bruce Sunpie Barnes, for helping us achieve this milestone. This was the fourth NJO event since its inception in 2017. Past presenters have included: Shirley Johnson, Mario Pedone, Jan Flemming, Ginny Mac, Tracie Goudi, Jamie Maschler, Gabe-Hall Rodrogues, Rachel Bell & Karen Axelrod, Kevin Solecki and Alicia Jo Straka.

The first two NJO events were live, and the second two were online via Zoom. NJO plans to continue online offerings for the near future. Scheduled for December 1 , 2020 (and repeated on Dec 5), Shirley Johnson is offering an ONLINE music theory class by called “Music is Math 101”. Registration will be available for this workshop on the NotJustOompah website beginning Nov 1, 2020.

Other workshops will be scheduled soon for 2021. The big summer workshop online event is scheduled for June 2021 and will be presented by Cory Pesaturo and Mario Pedone. Stay tuned to the website for all the details of this great programs coming soon.
