Rachel Quirbach will present a workshop on music therapy at the AAA Festival in Buffalo, July 6-10, 2016

Description of: “Music Therapy: A New Frontier for the Accordion”
You’ve heard from many sources that music is good for your brain. But how? In this workshop, learn about how music and the brain interact, how that translates to the field of music therapy, and how we can use the accordion in a wide variety of clinical settings. Come ready to sing and play in a mock music therapy session!

Rachel Quirbach is currently a student pursing her undergraduate degree in Music Therapy at Arizona State University’s Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. She has been playing the accordion for just over 14 years now and has attended the AAA Festival as a competitor and orchestra participant for the past six years.

Rachel is currently striving to promote awareness of the accordion within the ASU community by incorporating the instrument into her collegiate courses and music therapy preclinicals.
