I met with WQXR Instrument Drive Project Manager Kathleen Drohan on July 13, 2016 at the WQXR Studio in New York City. The WQXR Musical Instrument Drive collects, repairs, and redistributes musical instruments to New York City Public School music programs.

It was a delightful and informative afternoon in which Kathleen took me on an extensive tour of the facilities. I was amazed to see the elaborate sound studios and offices of WQXR.

Kathleen and I discussed the accordions that were donated to the WQXR Instrument Drive. She explained that in order for the instruments to be distributed, the organization requesting them must be a New York city based non profit school/organization.

Are you a community music program in the NYC area looking to receive instruments from the WQXR Instrument Drive? Or have questions?

Email: instrumentdrive@wqxr.org.

In future publications, I will write about ongoing meetings with Kathleen and include details about the distribution of the accordions. Photo by Dr. Leslie Strong
