Rita Barnea taught Pre-K to Gr. 5 Vocal/Special education music in the West Orange, NJ Public schools where she used the accordion every day in her classes accompanying choruses, music festivals, and programs! The principals of the schools were especially pleased she played the accordion because a music room was not always available. The use of the accordion allows the curriculum to be taught with superior quality of teaching and creates a joyous learning environment making the music class experience so much more positive, interactive, and enjoyable for the students.
Rita, honors graduate of the University of Connecticut, studied accordion with Eugene Ettore, former AAA President and noted accordion composer.
She presents workshops and concerts on the “Life and Music of Eugene Ettore”, ”The Use of the Accordion in the Teaching of Music in School”, and “How to Organize a Children’s Birthday Party” centered around the use of the accordion, a successful business she ran for many years.
Rita has performed in recitals, senior citizen centers, workshops/concerts at accordion festivals throughout the USA. Rita performed Eugene Ettore’s “Manhattan Concerto” with many symphony orchestras.
