The next Seattle Accordion Social will be held at St Mark’s Lutheran Church in Seattle, Washington, USA on March 5th, 2023 at 1:30 PM. The event will include guest performers Lyle Schaefer, Toby Hansen, David Miles and Kory Tideman. All accordionists are invited to perform at the social.

David Miles grew up with music and dancing. In 2007, David picked up a teach yourself accordion book in Russian by Alfred Mirek and and an Italian American accordion inherited from his mother in law. He studied with Ken Olendorf He enjoys performing at his dad’s señor living center, at Seattle Socials and more.

Kory Tideman shares, “ My Dad played piano accordion, my mom’s dad played button accordion. I started on harmonica, went to 2 row button box, then mandolin, guitar, and the 3 row. I always liked traditional music. I have been playing with Happy Hans’ Music for 19 years. I also play slack key guitar with a few Hawaiian groups. Too may tunes, never enough time!”

Lyle Schaefer says that music was “All in the Family” Dad on sax, Mom on piano, Brothers Lynn Larry and Lyle on accordion ,drums and accordion. In 1962, he won first place in his competition division. After military service with the 82nd Airborne, he pursued a career in the medical profession. He has played as a strolling minstrel, for dance groups, ethnic dance clubs, placed 11 of 12 categories in Canada’s largest Old Time competition, the Kimberly International. and many more memorable groups. Lyle has played professionally for over 50 years!

Toby Hanson plays accordion and piano. He has performed with many bands including his polka band, The Smilin’ Scandinavians, Valse Cafe Orchestra, French cabaret band Rouge, Western swing band, The Jangles, etc. He was an instructor at the Rose City Accordion Camp in 2021. He also teachers private students accordion, composition and arranging.
