Tamás Kéméndi Makes U.S. Debut in California

Hungarian accordionist and teacher Tamás Kéméndi makes his first visit to the United States in mid-August which will be his USA debut.  He will be visiting and playing at the Cotati Festival August 17, 2025 and has performances scheduled in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Newark, CA.

Tamás was born in 1989 in Mohács, Hungary.  His grandfather and father were accordionists whose influence led him to become a professional accordion performer and instructor.  

He graduated as an accordion teacher from Liszt Ferenc Music Academy in Budapest and started teaching at Liszt Ferenc Music School in Pécs.  He founded the accordion education program at the Arts of Music Secondary School of Pécs. 

In 2020 Tamás was awarded the Mihály Tabányi Prize which recognizes accordionists who have made excellent contributions over a long period of time to popularize the accordion and educate, and who are outstanding figures of the field of professional accordion music. 

Tamás is versatile in classical, jazz, pop-rock and folk music.  His unique aspect of music was influenced by his classical music education, German music culture, and jazz.  

Tamás also teaches the next generation of accordionists in primary and secondary schools, and has established several accordion programs.  He is responsible for numerous cultural events related to the popularization of the accordion.  He leads the Accordion Camp in Mohács, coordinates regional competitions in memory of his teacher, and organizes the Accordion Festival of Pécs.  Tamás’ students have received several exceptional results at national and international competitions.
