The CAA Orchestra in Concerts Celebrating World Accordion Day

The Connecticut Accordion Association Orchestra will be featured on two TV shows on May 6th in celebration of World Accordion Day. They will perform on “Connecticut Style” hosted by Desiree Fontaine at 12:30 PM on Channel WTNH which is ABC affiliated. They will also perform on “Better Connecticut”at 3:00 PM on Channel WFSB which is a CBS affiliate. Selections will include “Meglio Stasera”, arranged by Frank Marocco, and “La Virgen de la Macarenas”, arranged by Palmer- Hughes. The CAA Orchestra is led by AAA President Linda Soley-Reed. The members run the gamut from world class players like Mary Tokarski and Julie Cardona of the “K” Trio to respected area accordionists including Bob Vitale, past U.S. Champion Monica Slomski, and AAA Board Member Marilyn O”Neill.

On Sunday, May 16th, AAA President Linda Soley-Reed will conduct the CAA Orchestra in concert with special performances by Ansonia Natives Mary Kasprzyk Tokarski and Julie Kasprzyk Cardona. There will be a buffet luncheon at 1:00pm followed by the concert at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $25.00 per person, payable at the door. The program will take place at J.J.Sullivan’s Restaurant,557 Wakelee Ave.,Ansonia, CT. This concert will feature the CAA Orchestra that has performed in and out of state, and includes some of the finest musicians in the accordion world!

The Orchestra recently played for the elementary schools in Wallingford and was extremely well received. The Connecticut Accordion Orchestra was organized in 2004 and since that time has performed at various venues throughout Connecticut as well as at AAA Festivals in Washington, DC, Buffalo, New York, Memphis, Tennessee and at the Magnanini Winery for the Carrozza Scholarship Dinners in 2009 and 2010. The group consists of 25 members, many of which are outstanding accordionists and are performing regularly. The Connecticut Accordion Association is dedicated to the promotion of the accordion through all music genres and all variations of accordion instruments. Musicians at all levels who play all types of accordions are welcome to join.
