After 11 years, the Victoria International Accordion Festival, one of the important accordion festivals in North America, made a bold move to expand by changing festival dates, concept and name, to become the World Accordion and Tango Festival.

In this transitional year, as part of the festival being held on November 10-18, 2018 the BC Accordion and Tango Society will be hosting the 68th Trophée Mondial. This event is held every year in a different country and this will be the first time ever in Canada.

The Society was successful with their bid and was granted the honor to host the Trophée Mondial in Victoria, largely due to the huge success of the Coupe Mondiale 2013 that Victoria hosted, five years ago.

From November 10-15, 2018, some of the worlds finest young accordion soloists and ensembles will be competing for the very prestigious Trophee Mondial awards and a major prize budget. In the evenings there will be concerts will be presented by famous accordion professionals from different parts the world.

During the second festival weekend (Nov 16-18), the program will shift into tango music, for another three days of world-class performances by some of the most passionate and accomplished tango musicians and dance couples, who will be presenting their skills in workshops, dance lessons and famous milongas.

There will be over 200 performers in dozens of public concerts, workshops, dance nights, lectures, exhibitions.

The 68th Trophee Mondial is open to all accordionists, regardless of their age and level of playing. For all entry information, go to www.cma-accordions.com

Detailed program will be available during the summer and Early Bird ticket packages will go on sale at the beginning of September.

The festival has arranged some amazing deals with several hotels in Victoria, available for the festival guest only, for $89 CAD per room/per night.
