Exciting news: plans are already coming together for the 4th annual qathet Accordion Fest! Tickets are on sale for the Opening Night Concert, as well as the Accordion Cabaret. Both sell out every year, so make sure you get your tickets early!

Highlights from qathet Accordion Fest 2024

Walter Martella and Karina Inkster are looking forward to bringing you the Qathet region’s 4th annual Accordion Fest! Including a concert performance; workshops for beginners and advanced players alike; and a wide range of musical genres for audiences to enjoy. It is also known as the Powell River Accordion Fest.

Qathet Accordion Fest

The festival takes place May 2-3, 2025 at the Powell River Academy of Music (7280 Kemano Street in Powell River) on the traditional lands of the Tla’amin Nation.

Guest artists include Anthony Schulz, President of the Accordion Society of Australia, who is traveling all the way from Melbourne to join the festival! Also welcomed back is accordionist Ronen Segall from Vancouver Island.

The Opening Night/Main Concert on May 2, 2025 is also an album release event! Five of the Accordion Fest performers recorded a studio album recently, and it will be released at the Fest. The main concert, featuring a wide variety of musical genres, special musical guests, co-directors Walter and Karina, and at least 5 accordions! Enjoy a 5-piece tango band, jazz quartet, classical pieces, Klezmer, and more. Featuring accordionists Anthony Schulz and Ronen Segall, guitarists Budge Schachte and Stephen Nikleva, bassist Boyd Norman, and percussionist Terry Martyniuk. Not to be missed!

Accordion Cabaret: The closing party has been moved to the Academy of Music so there will be space for a dance floor! A new opening act will be featured this year: the Victoria Accordion Club Band!

A dessert/savoury bar is included in the ticket price. Cabaret style (round table) seating, and cash bar. Groups of 8-10 can reserve their own table.
