Accordionist/pianist Ben Rosenblum is embarking on another amazing tour to Vancouver, Japan, and California! Ben shares, “What a start to the year! Just getting back from an amazing trio tour through the Southeast, and gearing up for one of my longest trips to date – a three part tour beginning in Vancouver for a week, going to Japan for two weeks and then ending with a three day residency in Lakeport, California. Lots to get into, so scroll down for more information, or visit my schedule page for ticket links.”

Ben Rosenblum, a jazz accordionist, pianist and composer, is based in New York City. He is a graduate of the joint program of Columbia University and Juilliard School of Music. His work has won numerous awards including the ASCAP Young Jazz Composers Award, the Downbeat Student Music Award and the Downbeat Student Music Award and many more.
Ben brings his award-winning, genre-bending compositional style to the Nebula Project, a six-piece ensemble featuring a diverse cast of New York City’s most in-demand jazz musicians. He has toured extensively with his trio and sextet throughout the United States, including multiple tours to the Northeast, Midwest, South and West Coast, as well as internationally in Canada, Europe and Japan.

He was a featured soloist at Carnegie Hall’s Stern-Perelman Auditorium – with Reona Ito’s New York Harmonic Band – and has appeared at the Appel Room at Lincoln Center, Kuumbwa Jazz Center, Ravinia, Himawari-No-Sato Concert Hall in Yokohama, Bird’s Eye in Basel and the Library of Congress. Rosenblum’s second trio album in 2018, River City, featured the title track as part of their JAZZIZ Magazine’s Best of Fall 2018 CD.
March 6-10: Ben Rosenblum Nebula Project BC Tour – Vancouver, Vernon and Vancouver Island
“Canada has always been one of my favorite places to tour, but this will be my first time on the West Coast of Canada! I’m super excited to be bringing my six-piece ensemble, the Nebula Project, for four shows and a masterclass in British Columbia. We’ll be beginning in Vancouver at Tyrant Studios on Friday, March 7th (and a masterclass at Capilano University on the 6th), before traveling to Vernon for an appearance organized by the Vernon Jazz Society on the 8th. Then we’ll fly to Vancouver Island for two more shows on the 9th and 10th: one in Nanaimo through Quadwrangle Music and one at the beautiful Sid Williams Theatre in Comox Valley. This is going to be an epic tour. Since it’s our first time in the area, any help spreading the word is much appreciated!
March 14-23: Japan! Concerts in Tokyo, Nagoya, Hayama and more
I’m so excited to be returning to Japan for a series of concerts, some under my name and some led by a few of my favorite bandleaders in the area. First I’ll be in the Tokyo area, doing a solo piano concert at the beautiful Keystone Club on Saturday, March 15th, as well as a collaboration with the amazing drummer Hiro Kimura on Friday, March 14th at Ochanomizu NARU (I’ll also be going to Chiba with Hiro on Sunday, March 16th, and I’ll be back in Tokyo on the 22nd playing with Shin Sakaino’s trio at No Room for Squares). From there, I’ll spend some time in and around Nagoya with the great guitarist Hirosato Ito, doing three shows in the area from March 19-21 in Nagoya, Mie and Gifu. Finally, I’ll be returning to the area my wife Yoko is from, Hayama, to do a special music and art concert with her in her hometown on March 23rd at Cafetero. We’re so excited to see friends and family in the area, and hope to meet new friends along the way!
March 28-30: Lake County Residency
The Soper Reese Theatre in Lakeport, CA has been a long time supporter of my music since I began touring many years ago, and the people who operate the theatre are like family to me, as are so many of the audience members who have come to see me year after year. This March, I feel lucky to be able to spend three days in the area performing in three different contexts! On Friday, March 28th, my wife Yoko and I will be doing the West Coast debut of our music and art performance series at the Soper Reese Theatre! We’re so excited to be able to present this project, which will include live painting with a fully improvised piano and accordion accompaniment. On Saturday, March 29th (my birthday!) I’ll be participating in a pianist summit at the Soper Reese with a number of excellent local pianists, and then on Sunday, March 30th, I’ll be doing a very intimate trio concert at the Tallman Hotel in Upper Lake, CA, joined by frequent West Coast collaborators Mat Muntz on bass and Jake Shandling on drums.
Before I leave for this long series of tours, I will have program with Ben Zweig’s Big Beet at Radegast on Sunday, March 2nd. In April, I’ll have a little more time in NYC, and I’m looking forward to shows at Mezzrow, the Zinc Bar and the Guggenheim Museum! I’ll also be doing a little bit of touring in April in Japan (again!) and in NC and VA – more info on that in my next newsletter.
I feel so fortunate to be able to make music as my full time career, and to be surrounded by so many inspiring musicians, friends and family. Thank you all for joining me on this journey – it really means the world to me.”
