The Tacoma Accordion Gathering will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in South Tacoma, Washington, USA, on April 11, 2026 from 1:PM to 3.30 PM.

The event will begin with Open mic sessions featuring 10 minute slots. This will be followed by the featured performers “Folk Voice Band”, which comprises of Phil and Birgit Ages, who will present their program.

The band was started in California in the mid-80’s before they knew about the Folklife Festival. Phil, of Dutch origin, wanted to play more music from his country. Phil was with /Skandia Gammaidans Band and Interfolk Band and was very instrumental in staring them. Playing mostly Balkan and Scandinavian music, Phil wanted to do more variety and vocals.

Birgit joined Phil on accordion performing mostly international folk dance music, In 1990, they moved to the Seattle area. Having performed at Folklife since 1991 and at fairs and festivals throughout the Pacific Northwest, they have brought folk music to places that have not seen it before. He also plays Button Box Accordion, Concertina Guitar, Mandolin, Recorder, and Doumbek. Birgit started on accordion at 35. She loves Finnish and Scandinavian music and international folk dance music.
