The Alex Meixner Band’s 2025 Oktoberfest season is rolling along! The Alex Meixner Band has already had a blast playing in Cleveland, Vail, and Mount Angel. Jen Kopp put together some fun highlights from last week in Addison. Coming up, they can’t wait to see everyone in Fort Worth, Paterson, Reading, Knoxville, Palm Beach, and New Orleans before heading back home to New Braunfels for Wurstfest!

Alex Meixner is one of the most dynamic accordionists on the scene today. Meixner has performed worldwide, notably at American festivals like The National Folk Festival and Central Park SummerStage, as well as at countless community celebrations and accordion-centric events. He has worked with Jack Black on the Sundance-screened, Netflix movie “The Polka King”, with Post Modern Jukebox, and as an on-screen spokesperson for Hormel Pepperoni.

Alex Meixner is a nationally acclaimed musician, performer, bandleader, and educator dedicated to the vibrant world of polka music. With a foundation in classical, jazz, and ethnic music, Alex has effortlessly blended his versatile playing styles into pop, funk, jazz, and polka. As an ambassador for polka, he has sparked renewed interest nationwide, leading to sold-out shows and growing cultural appreciation. Leading the Alex Meixner Band, Alex performs around 180 shows annually, captivating audiences at intimate venues and major festivals alike. The band is a regular headliner at events like Wurstfest in Texas, German Fest in Milwaukee, and Musikfest in Pennsylvania. As a soloist, Alex showcases his talent in jazz, classical, and polka genres, performing with university ensembles and at festivals worldwide.
With over 75 albums to his name, including 20 as a leader or soloist, Alex’s recording career is prolific. His Grammy-nominated album “Polka Freak Out,” a collaboration with Bubba Hernandez, highlights his innovative approach. Alex has recorded with a diverse array of artists, from avant-garde accordionist Guy Klucevsek to Texas troubadour Walt Wilkins and Canadian Folk Punkers The Dreadnoughts.
